MAY AND MIGHT

I feared the Spirit’s purge –
But – baptized by breeze – learned
Remission is a soothing day –
Earth-kneeling – rinsed in May.

The will to live is strong –
Like hopes we had foregone –
The iris in dim cardboard room
Had sprouted – seeking bloom.
