REALITY CHECK

I can’t sit in a darkened room
And look for truth in gloom.
I need to view a scene that’s bright –
Where faith turns into sight.

Glory is glow – shining through light–
Magnifying to white –
Like inspiration with insight.
Revelations at night

Come – deer are browsing down the ridge –
Though drowsy – I can’t budge.
The moon hides shadows in the snow –
One by one – cervids go.

The Savior keeps me safe – The Lamb –
The King – the yet I-AM –
The Mighty One may make me bold –
Redeeming me from cold.

CERVIDS

In glowing cloud a half-moon shines –
A spotlight for the lake –
Where ice congeals into a rim
That crystals undertake.

I’m not quite sure how much you know
About our neighborhood –
We haunt the hills when winter comes –
We feed on frozen wood.

We make the dreamer catch her breath –
Her heart pounds with our leaps –
We startle constellation Bears
While Timpanogos sleeps.

You need not fear our forwardness –
We haven’t got a chance –
But just before we slip away –
Please catch our stealthy glance.
