Embarrassing to be mere man –
So great and yet so small –
So pitiful yet elegant –
To dance and then to crawl.
Humiliating ignorance –
And yet a spark divine –
Exhilarates intelligence –

"Croft of Light" is a forum for poetry, photography, and philology (the love of language). With Emily Dickinson as a tutor, Dag Hammarskjold as a mentor, and Noah Webster as a teacher, I hope to express light through lyric verse. Many of the texts are psalms, meant for musical accompaniment. My style favors simplicity and sincerity. My voice can be comic or serious. My tone may be innocent or ironic. Some of the pieces are just for practice. Respectful responses and comments are welcome.
