LABOR PSALM
Where is the portal to slumber?
Where is the door to sleep?
I’m not just asking the number –
I need to find the keep.
Where is the key to quietus?
Where is the requiem?
I’m not quite ready for mortis –
Just room in Bethlehem.

"Croft of Light" is a forum for poetry, photography, and philology (the love of language). With Emily Dickinson as a tutor, Dag Hammarskjold as a mentor, and Noah Webster as a teacher, I hope to express light through lyric verse. Many of the texts are psalms, meant for musical accompaniment. My style favors simplicity and sincerity. My voice can be comic or serious. My tone may be innocent or ironic. Some of the pieces are just for practice. Respectful responses and comments are welcome.
