The daybreak shines –
The shadow reclines –
New beauty’s mountain light reveals –
The calming of another sea –
The caring for another sheep –
Pacific now – the valley kneels.

"Croft of Light" is a forum for poetry, photography, and philology (the love of language). With Emily Dickinson as a tutor, Dag Hammarskjold as a mentor, and Noah Webster as a teacher, I hope to express light through lyric verse. Many of the texts are psalms, meant for musical accompaniment. My style favors simplicity and sincerity. My voice can be comic or serious. My tone may be innocent or ironic. Some of the pieces are just for practice. Respectful responses and comments are welcome.

I like how the valley is Pacific. The Pacific Coast is where it's at. Go California! Go New Zealand! The people of the Pacific need to kneel more often because they are some of the most blessed people. Climate wise, at least.
