MAYOLA MOORE – REISNER CONVALESCENT HOME

The skin on your left wrist is torn,
Like tissue kept in a handbag
Or paper on a birthday gift.
Your face may sag into a smile,
But your eyes make you beautiful,
Nested in cataract lenses:
New-fledged wrens resting in shadows.

(Provo, Utah, April 1979)
